IB PYP Elite Writing: Online Excellence Program

Our program is meticulously designed to foster transdisciplinary writing skills through a dynamic virtual workshop model. We leverage cutting-edge digital tools to bridge the distance, ensuring every student develops a sophisticated writer’s voice across a wide range of academic and creative genres.

I. Lower PYP (Ages 3–8): Building Foundations

Focus: Transitioning from Oral Storytelling to Structured Expression

Key Writing Skills

  • Mechanics of Writing: Mastering sentence construction, foundational punctuation, and essential digital literacy skills, including keyboarding and digital annotation.
  • Vocabulary Expansion: Guided transition from high-frequency "sight words" to evocative and descriptive "sparkle" words to enhance imagery.
  • Sequencing & Logic: Developing the ability to organize thoughts in a logical, chronological order using transition markers (First, Next, Finally).

  • Informative Labelling: Creating digital posters and interactive diagrams to document and explain scientific inquiries.
  • Procedural Writing: Crafting "How-To" guides (e.g., How to build a Lego tower) to practice instructional clarity and objective language.
  • Creative Micro-Stories: Engaging in collaborative digital storytelling using shared virtual whiteboards to build imaginative worlds.

II. Upper PYP (Ages 9–12): Mastery & Analysis

Focus: Rhetorical Flexibility & Academic Rigor

Key Writing Skills

  • The Craft of "Show, Don’t Tell": Moving beyond literal description to utilize sensory details, figurative language, and emotive word choices.
  • Structural Complexity: Mastering the transition from single paragraphs to cohesive, multi-paragraph essay structures with compelling introductions and logical conclusions.
